security deposit rent dispute

Greetings,

I have since left Bern and the lessor refuses to return my rent deposit. This person has gone so far as to level various nefarious charges to try to take my deposit anyway possible. I am arguing the matter but she has now taken me to court. How far can this go? Can she demand a court trial to get my money? What are my rights in such a situation? if there is a trial, do I have to appear? Can I counter by insisting that the judge just rule from the evidence provided and have no trial?

A little help would be nice now.

Exactly, follow Humbel's advice and contact the renter's association. They give great advice, and legal assistance if needed.

Thank you for your information.

1. I need their advice but unable to figure out where I can email them? I cannot read German. As mentioned, I already left Switzerland and joining the cited association is not too practical in the near future. Would they still answer my question via email? By any chance, would you have a contact name I could correspond with?

2. I got a letter from the court in German. I tried to Google translate it and it is still not clear. Would you know which web site could give me a better translation?
