"+ Affordable alcohol: beer CHF 5, long drinks CHF 15"
Hum, affordable? damn expensive yes. I guess that's why it was a private
party in the first place. A spot for rich expats...
Paying club prices for an outdoor free party is a bit weird...
what do you think?

Hey, not to worry. This just in my inbox: "Not planned, and it means some non Sindy / glocals folks will be there, but not a big deal. And since only Sindy & glocals members were informed of the party, we still expect a great friendly crowd."
Phew! Initially, I was horrified at the thought of bumping into some of the locals (not the "g" kind, mind you), but it looks as if the friendlies will outcrowd them...

You understood from the message what you wanted to understand from it...(-:
The #1 nationality on glocals is Swiss, so it's not about local or expats. But the fact that this party is now open to the public (instead of being a private event) means, mainly, that we will be not able to enforce the 'age 23+' policy at the beach.
See you there,
Nir (one of the rich expats who obviously doesn't wanna get to know any locals...:)

The not 23+ i mean. im really not in the mood for a bunch of 18 year olds
Oh well. We just have to go and see.
One question though. The getting there part is easy. How are we supposed to come back to Geneva though assuming we dont have a car and assuming that no one offers a lift?

[b]Hi Nir,
I've just read in today's 20minutes that the Swiss Authorities were not even aware of that party at the beginning and that now it's not only public but it will be allowed till midnight only.... (20minutes page 3)
Is it true?:P

I see where the Swiss authorities are coming from, and I think I have a solution:
How about all glocals/Sindy partygoers just show up with a case of beer, bottle of wine, or bottle of liquor each, and make our own party? We come in groups of 6-8 people, and insist on speaking only English all night? At minimum, no French is to be spoken, as that would be an utter travesty. :w00t:
We must all wear a sign, some symbol to help us distinguish ourselves from the unwelcome bourgeoisie; I propose each member wears a red shirt with a white cross on the front so we can identify one another.
Upon arrival, we glocals/Sindy squads must penetrate deep into the center of the crowd, then spread ourselves out in a circular ring, opening space in the middle for the most enormous dance-battle ring you have ever seen. Once we accomplish this, we send a task force to secure the DJ booth so we do not run the risk of hearing any non-English music. For the remainder of the night, glocals/Sindy will hold competitive group dance battles in the middle of the circle, coupled with ingestion of copious amounts of liquor at our de facto event. If there are attendees at the party who look, speak, or even think differently than we do, they must be dealt with. Police must be resisted at all costs. Death to the infidels.

We posted a bit more perspective on the party and on the 'private vs public' debate here.
Hope it helps, see y'all tomorrow night (I'll be the one being beaten up by all the teens!),
Nir
For glocals, the party never ends. :D
Or whenever the bar you bounced to for post-midnight celebrations wants to kick you out.

As we speak, it's being discussed with everyone involved in the party's production. There's a risk of an earlier closure, but it's relatively small.

With all my respects to glocals that I like very much, this is a bit sad to have announced the party on that beach without an official authorisation and therefore "allow" 20 minutes to talk… However, please note that:
- So please, do not base on such an "article" to think that Swiss people are not friendly to foreigners! I am myself Swiss and also foreigner so being at the 2 sides, I speak by experience! ;)
- So voilà, let's all go to this OPEN party and be open to any strange creatures like "teens", "swiss", "non-swiss", etc! :hehe:
See you there! Golareh
P.S.And I also think that "CHF 5 and 15" drinks on a free beach (haha now we all know that!) is not that affordable!

Hi Golareh,
Thanks.
I should have clarified it in my earlier messages: the party was and is authorised (the article says the party wasn't authorised). The reporter called one dept in the City who was not updated on the authorisation (which was given by another dept), and drew his conclusion of 'no authorisation' based on that.
I thought of asking him to issue a correction, but figuered it's best to just let it pass, and go party...(-;
See you tomorrow,
Nir
