sony e-book reader prs600

Hello everybody,

Does anyone know if one can listen to music at the same as rading a book on that particular device?

Does any other e-book reader do that ?

Look forward to your answers. Thank you in advance!

it might be possible if you input the text into a multi track application and attach the music you want. it would be like adding music to a photo album (digital of course) there are some programmes that allow you to do this i´m sure.

I think the answer is yes. Below are two relevant links:

1. http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/product/301948/review/reader_touch_edition_prs600.html

Here's the relevant quote: "The built-in MP3 player was the best of any I've listened to on an e-book reader, with decent-quality audio and a good range of volume over earphones (the Touch Edition has a standard headphone jack). The player has repeat/shuffle options, and you can keep the music going while you read."

2. http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/11566037/Sony-PRS-600-6-Touch-E-Reader-Silver/Product.html

This clearly states that you can "Listen while you read".

Hope this helps :)

Hi - Yes. I have a PRS 700 and it has a built-in program for playing mp3s that works just fine. It has a slot for an SD card and a slot for a Memory Stick Duo card.

I'm very happy with this e-reader.

Hi Bettyboop, yes the Kindle DX (Amazon) can do that, it can read the following formats: Kindle (AZW), PDF, TXT, Audible (formats 4, Audible Enhanced (AAX)), MP3, unprotected MOBI, PRC natively; HTML, DOC, RTF, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP through conversion.

With the Kindle format (AZW) you are able to use the text on speech with your e-books.

Hope it helps to you.

Dear Epicure, Avishek, Intlrep, R2D2

Sincere thanks for your prompt answers, really appreciate your input!

At last I was able to contact Sony late this afternoon and as a matter of fact one can do the two things simoultaneously which is great. And I was able to see the thing 'live' this afternoon at Fnac which is good too.

I'll take time to go and check more in details the tips you gave me.

I wish you a great week-end!
