support Movember

During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces  around the world. The aim of which is to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and testicular cancer.

As founder of icoach-online.org (job interview coaching and career transition) I would like to donate *1 job interview coaching session held in the '*Silver Interview Room' via Skype. The value of this session is 125Euro. I will do this for free, but in return I ask that the individual makes a donation to any worldwide branch of Movember. The donation to be paid directly through their website:

*Please note the following:

The free job interview coaching session to be awarded upon receipt of the first completed contact form arriving in icoach-online email inbox. Basically first come, first served! J.  Email contact form found at http://www.icoach-online.org

Re: support Movember
Post 1

please start reading into these "charities" like movember and pink ribbon! Just give your money directly to to sufferers or proper charities. at least 70% of the proceeds go to research - which is conducted by pharmaceutical companies.... Why? They already make billions, and once a cure is found, they will make even more... why should THEY be supported. What a joke. Furthermore, there is nothing funny or glorified about cancer. Why should people suffering from it (i have lost a couple of family members) be glorified and continuously be confronted. Please stop this rubbish.  More to read: https://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=462638854927&comments&ref=mf

Furthermore I appreciate that you are trying to give your business a boost, but I find the way you try to do this on this forum, via this way a bit repulsive.

Thank you for your reply Martin.  It seems that you have very strong views on which way people should support charities and I understand your concern that certain charities are not as transparent as they should be and profit too much.

I personally  believe it is important to highlight Movember as in the past testicular cancer has been a taboo subject and one that caused embarrassment.  And if a little awareness building and helping others to talk openly about this cancer does some good and also encourages early health checks which saves lives…

I get your point that this could look like self promotion for me personally. I am willing  to take that hit.  There are though some charities and NGOs I care about a lot, believe in and have previously supported so I continue to support.

I wish you all the best in supporting others in the way you feel comfortable with. I am very sorry for your loss of family.

It’s a very good issue you raised Martin. Perhaps others have views on whether Movember trivializes this awful disease?

Martin, I had a look at that FB page you posted. A few choices quotes immediately pop out:

"Invest in people or organizations that are working to educate us on living Cancer Free."

"On a side note, all you dudes with your dirty perv staches are just making it easier for all the sketchy pedophiles to blend in. It's their trademark sign (along with always having three names) and I'm sure this is their favourite month!! "

I'm not sure if I understand the first one, but is it apparently possible to educate people on, "This is how not to get cancer" ? I'm very sorry if I misunderstood that part.

The second one is just a crass insult. Pardon me, but that does not help give that post any credibility.

If I did not know any better, I would say you have linked to a troll post. I am not trying to dispute the issues you bring up. I just wish that making such claims would be backed up with some facts. For what it's worth, I decided to participate this time around, along with a group of friends, but mainly for the "raise awareness" part, and for a change of look, and to be able to have an interesting conversational starter this month. :)

Peace,

Jouni

No hyperlinks. No business. No paedophiles. No disrespect. Just some Bros, growing a Mo, to raise awareness of prostate and testicular cancer, during the month of Movember. And I don't care how many people think I look like a perv, if 1 guy goes for a check-up and is diagnosed early...
