taux hypothecaire and rent reduction or increase

Can someone please help me understand how changes to taux hypothecaire impacts the rent.

I know that association for rental said with the decrease with the mortgage rates that renters should ask for a decrease in rent.

What I do not understand is how this language in contract impacts the rent given the mortgage rate

Criteres de fixation du loyer: taux hypoththecaire :

indice suisse des prix a la consumation: 108.5 points au 31 aout 2003

thanks in advance for any information

David,

Here is the link to the official Swiss CPI -

http://www.bfs.admin.ch/bfs/portal/fr/index/themen/05/02/blank/key/basis_aktuell.html

On this chart the CPI was at 93.3 in August 2003 and is now 100.5, meaning that if your rent was CHF 2'000 in 2003, the adjusted rent should be CHF 2'154 now.

I suspect that your rent is not based on the mortage rate but rather the CPI.
