travel passes

I often see all day train tickets for Switzerland for sale and sometimes for as little as 35chf.  I have looked on the sbb website but am still not clear. Are these tickets part of a pack or bought individually?

Thanks

Hi sharon

you can buy a daily pass by 35 francs, and with this you have the right to use any transportation inside switzerland in the given day (trains, trams, buses, whatever). However, these tickets are easily sold out, and only bought at the tourism office, like the one at pont de la machine. I bought 2 tickets, for 12 and 13th of june, 2 weeks ago (and it was the closest dates!!!). They recommend, for weekends, buying 6 weeks in advance.

cheers, wanessa

Actually, you can also buy these travel passes ("carte journalière") from the mairie of your commune.

And if you have a half-fare card, you can get a travel pass for 54 CHF from the train station. This is a useful link: http://mct.sbb.ch/mct/en/reisemarkt/abos-billette/billette/tageskarten.htm?=
