unemployment benefits

Dear all.

Would someone be able to advice?

I have worked for a total of 36 months in Switzerland, the first 2 years with one contract for just over 4000 CHF/month, and the last year with two contracts (adding the salaries from each contract) for around the same as during the first year =4000 CHF/month.

Now, the fixed term contracts are over, and I applied for unemployment benefits while I'm looking for a new job. I have just received the first payment (unemployment benefits) that amounts 2015 CHF. Shouldn't it be 70% of the salary I received before? =around 3000CHF? could it be a mistake that I receive only 2015 CHF? should I ask them to check.

You will receive a copy of the payment made with itemised deductions. For example, accident insurance ( about 250 sfr,) AVS,  and maybe tax at source.

it never is what you expect, but you get coverage for 15 months, not so bad.

If you have any question you can go to Le Trialogue. They have people who can explain in detail each deduction and help you to formulate any complaint.

The first payment is sometimes smaller than the normal, because they deduct admin coats to setting up your unemployment benefit.

What is important on your benefit is the daily allowance. Normally multiply that by the working days and you get your total.

Also be aware they dont pay for holidays.

As mentioned above the first 2 weeks of the first month payment are deducted, kinda fee for entering the unemployment system.  your next month should be the full amount unless they penalise you days money which I gather they can do if its not evident you have been making an effort to look for work

Do you need to be a holder of C permit to enjoy the unemployment benefits? I mean if i have worked on fixed term for few years but holding B or L permit, does it change anything for unempoyment benefit?

Take into account that they count working days per month. In some months there can be a difference of around 3 or 4 days. In you case this can easily mean a 600 CHF difference from one month to another. On the statement you will see how much they pay per working day. This will help you calculate in the future what payment to expect in a certain month.

@ Olga: I have no idea for an L, for a B and a C you need to work 12 months and one day to receive unemployement benefits. It's also only calculated over this period. The plus one day""  sounds awkward, but it's what I've heard.
