Hi everyone!

My name is Zorah and I will be doing an internship at the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights as per 16 July 2012 for a period of 6 months. As you all probably know, the housing market is terrible so I am hoping that someone here may be able to help me find accomodation. I am a quiet, responsible 24 year old woman with as my main hobbies films, reading, photography, motorbike riding and diving. My max. budget is around 500-600 CHF per month. Everything is fine, as long as it's clean and within a reasonable radius of Geneva. Short term accomodation is also fine.

If anyone has any tips or suggestions for how to prepare for my 6 month stay in Geneva, you are more than welcome to share! Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Zorah,

I'm in a similar situation to you...24year-old female interning at UNRISD for 2 months this summer and looking for somewhere to live. Half British, half Norwegian, calm, active, non-smoker. Dates I'm looking for: 10th July - 11th September.

Any advice anyone on glocals can give us would be really appreciated. Thank you!

It will be very hard to find anything in Geneva for 500-600CHF per month, if you add in charges, and deposit. Try looking for housing in Ferney-Voltaire in France, as it is on the French border and close to the UNHCR. Annemasse is another budget-saving choice in France, but you will be looking at a commute of anywhere from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours each way, depending where in the region you choose (I have commuted from both before to Palais des Nations).
