70th birthday! Posh restaurant required!

My MIL will be 70 this weekend and we're looking for somewhere "posh but friendly" for a family lunch.

Geneva / Annecy / around Gex area would be great - lake views / log fires would be a bonus.

Thanks in advance!

If you want a Lake view and are prepared to go out of Geneva I'd recommend:

http://www.perebise.com/uk/index.php

Its really nice.

Otherwise there's always Floris in Anieres which had super lake views.

The Pere Bise is undoubtedely excellent both in terms of location and quality, and I'm sure it wouldn't disappoint from that aspect.  It's in Talloires on the shore of Lake Annecy - stunning location.  It's certainly posh, but just make sure you research the prices before you commit to this - it's not cheap.  I have rich friends who have been there although I've never been myself - I've just enviously looked in through the gates at the rich and famous, and searched the dustbins for leftover bottles of bubbly and foie gras.....Undecided......

Hope you enjoy the celebration - let us know where you chose.

Yes, we know Pere Bise, fab place - we haven't ever splashed the cash to eat there, but have often enjoyed coffee on their terrace - I don't know if they really like people doing that, but at around 9 euros a coffee (ouch!), they can't really complain!

Really appreciate all the great suggestions - current contender is the Floris, but the Michelin addresses will be stored away for future reference.

Cheers,

Swissymiss
