A way to have fun in the snow without skiing?
Hi,

I hope someone can help me.  We have visitors this weekend and want to have some fun in the last bit of snow, but our friends cannot ski.

I spoke to the tourist board last week who confirmed that the snow parks at Leysin and Les Diablarets are now closed.  We've only been here 5 weeks and are not familiar with all the areas.

Do you know of anywhere that is open still - we live near Lausanne and don't mind  an hour or so's drive.

I'd be really grateful for any replies.

Many thanks,

Julie

There is a place an hours drive south towards Chaminox. They drive down to the parking lot and collect you in a snow truck they then take you to the top and feed you fondue. You then get to sledge down which taks about 45 mins at a fair pace. It is fun and in the snow and while at the top you can look around and hon your sldging skills...

If you want the contact details let me know and i will try to remember to send them tomorrow..

Sorry I forgot to get the info last night. I have had a few people asking for the details so please watch this space. I will get the details tonight and post them either tonight or tomorrow morning.

From memory it is no cheap, i think we paid about 60euros for the transport up the hill, food and sledge down.

They follow the last person down or will give you a 30 min head start, then they head down the route and collect the sledges. If you have kids who need a lift up and down they can do this too. We took our 3 month baby in a chest carrier and they were more then happy to take parent and baby up and down on a snowmobile.

Best pice of advise from me to anyone going here is to check the sledge, make sure the steering wheel and ski are solid and good and also the break.

Will get the address and phone number for tomorrow. Not to sure about snow conditions there so best to call first and check they are running.

Thank you.  Even if we don't go this year, it's handy to know for the future. :)
