he Contemporary Art Funds of the City and State of Geneva have initiated an ambitious and extraordinary public art project. Artistic luminous installations are set on the roofs of buildings around the Plaine de Plainpalais.

This project was specifically conceived for the Plaine de Plainpalais. Away from the prestigious lakefront tourist context, it offers an original and diversified urban space which combines local commercial, cultural, seasonal and festive activities.

Since 2006, six luminous installations of Swiss and international artists have been made : in 2006-2007 «YES TO ALL» by Sylvie Fleury (CH) and «BREATH» by Jérôme Leuba (CH) ; in 2007-2008 «What I still have to take care of» by Christian Jankowski (D), and «EXPODROME» by Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster (F) ; in 2008-2009 «Axis of Silence» by Sislej Xhafa (Kosovo) and «Fly A Dragon Kite» by Nic Hess (CH).

The fourth phase of the NEON project starts with the launching of a public contest for a luminous signboard on the Plaine de Plainpalais in Geneva. This contest is open to artists of all nationalities.
