Absinthe
Hey!

I leave for India in two days, and after a deluge of requests from back home to bring back some absinthe, I have a few wuestions in this regard:

1. I was wondering where I may be able to find a few bottles of (cheap and good) absinthe in Geneva in the next two days.

2. Is absinthe available in the duty free stores at the airports?

3. What is the average price per bottle of the drink?

Looking forward to replies from lovers of la fée verte .

there is no such thing as cheap good absinthe :D if you're really on a budget, here is a trick a guy from canton Jura told me: take a bottle without any markings, pour in 4 parts of vodka and one half part of pastis, one half part of gin, cork it and pretend is an undercover original stuff you smuggled out of the country lol otherwise try upscale liquor stores like Globus and Caveau de Bacchus on Rond-Point-de-Rive. You might find something at the duty-free shops, it's a popular souvenir... or bring a Swatch, it's easier to find

>>there is no such thing as cheap good absinthe

I suppose absinthe is like every other drink then.."cheap" and "good" usually don't go together.

haha. Thanks a ton. I suppose I'll try this in India itself instead of wasting valuable luggage space taking the concoction back with me.

Yeah - I was directed to Caveau de Bacchus by some colleagues at work, and shall pay them a visit today evening.

Thanks again, but looking forward to more suggestions before evening.

..Absinte (as it is written in French) is a very Swiss thing indeed. Banned from legal sales until recently. Just being curious why your folks want this stuff? at it's original concentration it grades easily 65-70% (commercial vodka is 40%). That makes the original stuff illegal in most countries. I remember using it in the army to treat light wounds as the anis makes it a quick pain-killer and the alcohol content makes it a good detergent... both inside & outside :P
