Advice on mobile phones, please.
Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for some advice around mobile phones.

I am looking to buy my 10 year old a mobile phone with GPRS for local calls and emergencies only.

Is a pay-as-you-go phone the most cost effective?  If so, where is the best place to purchase a good deal?

If not, please advise?  Looking forward to hearing from you!

Many thanks & kind regards,

Jules

Yo JA,

That's an easy one - go for Orange Prima. It's the Orange plan designed for kids. It's a pre-pay plan, and the unique thing about it is that you also get the phone for free (in contrast to most other pre-pay plans), and it comes with all these games (that appearantly kids love...:)

Nir

Full disclosure: I am one of glocals' co-founders, and Orange are one of our main partners.

Hi Nir,

Thanks for the advice , however, I couldn't find a plan where the phone is free.  Do you have any more information, please?

Many thanks in anticipation,

Jules

Hey Jules,

From what I understand on the Orange website, you get a Sony Ericsson F305 phone for CHF 1 when you get Prima Pre-pay for 12 months, with credit of CHF 22 per month.

Check it out here: http://www1.orange.ch/residential_products_price-plans_prima.html

Bon chance!

of if just for a kiddiewink...u can get from Interdiscount phones for 29.95 that are pay as u go and also usually come with some starting credit.

They are cheap and reliable but nothing to fancy as a kid may break it or lose it !
