Advice on temporary parking in Geneva

We have family coming to visit over the holidays. They are coming by car and will need a place to park during their stay.  I've been looking at the public garages and the prices are so high!  Any ideas on how we could find less expensive parking for their stay?  We will be taking the car on day trips from time to time, so will need to access it fairly regularly.

Alternatively, if anyone has a spot available for 10 days, from December 18-28, we would be happy to rent it!  We are on rue de Lyon, but anything within a reasonable walking distance would be great. (I've also posted this to the classified section)

Thanks!

Dear Melanie.

So here we go; this is what several friends / visitors are doing.

Please check out:

Route de Pregny (by the UN) and Rue de Lausanne (towards Le Reposoir)

Happy Holidays!

Depending on where you live, they can park on the street, provided the lines are white and not blue, and that there is no meters nearby.

Blue zones require a special card or is limited to 60 mns.

White lines (not boxes) allow unlimited parking, just make sure they are not subject to a public collective meter (max 90mns, no refill)
