American attempting to find work...anyone have advice for visas? any contacts at the UN?
Hello,

So I'm an au pair at the moment but I'm looking to try and find work around August. Basically everywhere I turn it just gets more and more depressing since it's pretty difficult to get a work visa in Switzerland as an American.

Has anyone gotten a work visa? Any advice on job hunting, international companies, etc? I have a pretty solid administrative background with a Masters of Arts.

Also, I've heard it's possible to get work at the UN (no work visa required), anyone have contacts there?

Cheers,

Jailee

Check out this website. It outlines the procedure if an employer want to hire someone from a third country (i.e. not in the EU): http://www.geneve.ch/permis/uk/p_main_tiers_uk.asp

It is very difficult to get a permit because there are quotas for employees from third countries.
