Any tourist-y things to do tomorrow???

Well, if the weather forecast is right, it's going to be another beautiful day tomorrow and this new(ish) lass in town was wondering whether there are any guided sightseeing activities or any touristy things I can accomplish around. Went through the 'Things to do' list to no avail. I would appreciate any advice, plese do keep in mind my next to none-existant French. Cheers!

given the season and the great weather, I would suggest visiting the Lavaux area, well known for the vineyards, quite close to Geneva, breath-taking landscape, and ideal for wine tasting if you are interested.

Here you can find useful tips: http://www.montreuxriviera.com/en/Culture_loisirs/Culture_Lavaux/activites_lavaux

Hey, thanks guys,

Federica: I have already done 2 trips to Lavaux, even managed to enjoy the wine a lot more than I should *hick* :) Thanks!

Bertrand: Wouldn't know front from back about cars... any cars. But thanks for the suggestion.

Paul E: I googled the place and it looks like exactly what I am looking for, only trouble is I can't seem to find information about where to get the boat there?? :)

This is the websitehttp://www.cgn.ch/horaires/doSearch.php?lan=fre-FR

Seems to be only in French but if you read it with an English accent, you will manage

Croisiere = cruise

Horaire = timetable (hours)

Depart = departure

Arrivée = arrival

Here endeth the first lesson

Tried getting a timetable but receive an error They usually leave around 10 ish. An alternative is to get the train to Nyon where the frequency is much better

There is an 0848 info line in the top right hand corner and they ought to be able to speak English on it

In case Paul doesn't answer in time, here's the schedule for the boat to Yvoire:

http://www.cgn.ch/eng (main website)

http://www.cgn.ch/horaires/pdf/AffA2-automne-12_low.pdf (autumn timetable)

The easiest place to get on the boat in Geneva is at the pier right next to the Mont Blanc bridge, side of Paquis/Cornavin. You need about 2-3 hours to walk around in Yvoire, including the boutique shops. You can already reach it by car (30-45 minutes from Geneva, depending on where you live).

Yvoire also has a few decent restaurants, but make sure you book in advance on a Saturday afternoon/night. The last boat back to Geneva is too early for dinner though.

Edwards info - absolutely spot on.  Just beware that sailings from Geneva are not that regular.Also if you are only one or two should be no problem reserving a table in at least one of the restaurants esp if you go a little earlier - say 11.45 instead of 12

It is horribly touristy and tacky, having said that I usually end up there once or twice a year and the architecture is impressive

I was planning on going up one of the mountains later today and taking some pictures of the city/lake from the top if you wanted to join me. Apparently its about an hour or so up, I'd assume the same down, and I was planning on maybe spending a bit of time reading there too.
