Anyone got any spare crutches?

So I've just torn my ACL (knee ligament) yesterday whilst playing football, and can literally only hop now.

Does anyone have any spare crutches I can borrow, or know if I can get them free from the hospital? I have one of those EHIC cardy things...

Cheers,

Ally

You need a chit from your medical practitioner.  Take this to a chemist’s and they will supply the appropriate crutches for your height and needs.  The cost will be reimbursed by your health insurance.

You can also hire crutches without a medical certificate but the cost won’t be reimbursed.

HI Reka and Richie,

Many thanks for the prompt replies- were very useful!

Basically, it was less "scary" than expected- apparently since i work here in Geneva, things just gets charged to your employers..!

Have now got some crutches.. now for some rehabilitation!

Cheers

I imagine that you’ve discovered that the obligatory accident insurance covers the situation.  Glad anyway that the ‘problem’ has been solved and hope that you’ll soon be fully mobile again.

 Best, R.
