Not so much a "singles bar" but there are many glocals singles events run in bars all over Geneva...

Hope you find what/who you're looking for :)

Normal singles bars = No

"Singles events " in various normal bars = yes check events and threads

Abnormal Singles bars (aka where you buy champagne for a brief chat with some semi naked girl who may rub your leg whilst giving idiotic small talk and throwing the champagne you just bought her in the flower pot) = yes loads , but advise you to stay away, unless you like getting indirectly robbed or have more money than Abromavich.

Maitre, just go out in Geneva, make the most of the sunny nights, go to bars with "character"be open minded and introduce yourself to Geneva..

it's not hard to meet folk of the opposite sex here.. it's a great place for socialising and then going on from there..

Thats true actually. When a guy asks you out and you see a chicken picture you are thinking. "ok what is he hiding?" If the profile also says nothing you might as well forget it

David R.. : I forget it was a long time ago, and sadly even though the bill was mine, it was a clients leg that got rubbed and not mine, and when i complained abt the bubbly being so blatantly wasted the bouncers response was to give me a slap and sling me out (after I had paid).

David, I have tried internet dating.  It does not really work –  you normally get harassed by some girl looking for a route out of poverty

What I am trying to discover is where genuinely single girls hang out and not those after something.

bars, the lake, the park, malls... you can't be pointed in one direction,  they don't all walk about with "date me" tattooed on them or some neon sign

go old school, go to a bar, see a lady, engage in some conversation... go carey grant :)

Not sure if it is a advise or tip but what ever. I at least cannot bother to talk random girls in a bar. Not worth of it realy... Girls here are rude, bitchy, etc. melting pot of cultures makes this city just weird in that sense. I recommend you try to find your mate by some other way.

Any case, Lyndsey, any statistics out of the single nights you organized some time ago? Like did it work and did someone get together afterwards?

I think the mixture of cultures is what makes it easier to meet people here, no barriers, expectations, mixed approaches means it's more fun and less predictable..

Sorry, I got to have forgot some words to describe the vanity of my empirical study group. Not sure do I communicate myself clearly enough and that is why I just make sure that I mean girls with false impressions of themselves. 

For sure there are a lot of nice people in the crowd too. Unfortunately when I have been talking to random people with or without hidden agenda the rudeness of some of the ladies is just overwhelming. This is why I think talking to random girls in a bar is not worth it. I like to have fun instead.

Nice girls, go and talk to the guys if you want to get to know them instead of waiting us to come to talk to you. Otherwise your wait for the nice guy might prove to be a really long one.

There are gorgeous single women in geneva who are not materialistic, and there are great men who are not desèperate....

negativity is easy to spot, so why bother approaching those.

And NO, you dont have to grow a pair of nuts so big as to be dragging them 2 feet behind you as you enter a bar, just wake up to your surroundings and open your eyes.... its all a melting pot of lust and desire out there, same as any city.

Personally, i find that learning to recognise certain signs a help, both from a positve and negative point of view, sometimes Im wrong, sometimes right on the mark, but there will always be a sense of trepidation as the straws get drawn.

There have been several comments here regarding the golddigger mindset.  I don't get it.  I've met a number of women here on Glocals, on dating sites, and in-person.  Not once did I get the impression that my wealth and/or earning capacity was being evaluated.

Then again, the real golddiggers are probably bypassing me from the get-go since I don't exhibit any outward signs of having wealth.

I hoist a beer to all of the regular Joes out there.  Cheers! 

Just throwing in 5 cents here, but the answer to maitre's original question is to get involved with a few of the activities and enjoy yourself. After being here 18 months, I've had great experiences, scary experiences and a mixture of both. Go to some glocals gatherings, join a hiking/running/biking group, make some friends, meet people. It's just like any other city - if you get out there, you'll meet the people. You have to judge if they're what you want, they will decide if you're what they want... and so it goes.

Oh... and she's right... girls are always taken by someone who goes after what they want!! It's never let me down!

Socilaise, attend events and enjoy the city and before you know it through just being yourself you will meet someone who will share the same interests as you but moreover will have seen you as yourself and not as the dreaded "predatory" dating male.

I think to meet the girl in a bar is not the best idea (except one night stand). Try sport activities or cooking class;)

Well... you can always call the sex  "horizontal jogging" (ie sport) and suggest she cooks you breakfast in the morning, whilst you are critical of the way she deals with the bacon ( ie cooking class)... so yes I would argue a bar fits the bill perfectly.
