Are washing machines in studios prohibited in Switzerland?

Hey,

I sent an e-mail to to the manager of my apartment asking whether I could install a washing machine (for clothes) in my kitchen, and he replied:

"washing machines are not acceptable in studios in all of Switerland."

This seems kind of odd to me. Is this true?

Thanks.

Thanks, but I was looking for an answer from a legal perspective since I'm being told it's prohibited in the entire country.

"Washing machines are not acceptable in studios in all of Switzerland" is bullshit.

You appear to have met just another unfriendly manager with the purpose to make life difficult for tenants.

Why don’t you ask ASLOCA,  the Swiss tenants’ protection organization?

Check their website for contact details, opening hours, etc.

They should be able to provide an informed answer and advice on how to proceed if the Régie is pulling a fast one.

All the best,

Ritchie
