Baby / childrens health care?

Hi!

We Are new here in Geneva, and we have a 4-weeks old boy who needs to get his weight and meassures checked, does anyone know where to go?

We also would like to know if anyone have a good health care center or med. doctor for children that we can go to if he needs other care.

(or if there are any baby/parent-groups, for meeting others with small ones)

Hi Minka,

Congrats on the little one!!!

Good baby / kid doctor (speaks only French tho):

Dr. Bolognini
chemin François-Lehmann 12
1218 Grand-Saconnex
+41 22 798 69 66

The Doc will see your baby every 3-4 weeks, track his weight / size and general health, and give him the needed shots.

I think there are also public baby-care places that do the same, but not sure. The doc will know.

Seperatly - make sure you have health insurance for the little one...

And last, about baby groups: if you post a Member-Activity on glocals for mums to get together, I'm sure there will be takers.

Good luck,

Nir

Most neighborhoods have a "CASS" - Centre d'action sociale et de sante" where once a week you can bring your child to get weighed and measured, and ask for all sorts of advice.  You would have to look in the phonebook for the one in your area to find out which day they provide this service.  Plus, you'll meet other neighborhood parents with kids the same age.

I'm always surprised that people don't know about it, as I was given this information by Les Grangettes where my daughter was born 4 years ago.  But she had a slight underweight problem, so perhaps they wanted to make sure that it was followed.

It's free; it is a service provided by the city.

Hi Minka,

Welcome to Geneva an congrat son your little one!

For weigh-ins and very basic check ups you can visit the Arcade de Sages Femmes (Mid Wife Association), 85 bd Carl Vogt.  They are great and have a free drop in service every day from around 2pm-5pm.  A lot of the midwives speak English, and are very lovely/helpful.  http://www.arcade-sages-femmes.ch/asf/

There are also a couple of english speaking doctors recommended on www.bumpsnbubs.com.  You will also find other new Mums here.  If you don't find what you are looking for in terms of a doctor, let me know and I can ask around for you….

Good luck!

Kirsty
