Berthage - Mooring fees in Geneva

Hi there,

Can anyone advise me as to how much I can expect to pay for the Berthage or Mooring fees in or near Geneva. The boat is 15 meters in length. Any advice or help will be greatly appreciated.

Gerry

before you pay, you need to ask for a place to put your boat. Did you ask for it ?

(I heard it was quite a rare thing...)

Bertrand,

Thanks for your reply, No I didn't ask yet but I'm not confined to Geneva. I don't mind being a little further up the lake.

If anyone has a boat on the lake I'd love to ask them about some of the basics and local rules and regs.

Thanks

Hello. Do consult www.anibis.ch, then "Nautisme", then "Places d'amarrages". Good luck.

Gerry,

It is frightfully expensive, but don't worry, you have between 5 and 10 years to save. That is the minimal length of the waiting lists. It will take you at least 5 if you are willing to moor really far from Geneva, and probably on the French ports like Evian or Thonon, or further out, and no less than 10 years closer to Geneva.

Then, you have to renew your application every year, as they deny you at the end of the year and require that you resubmit if you want to keep your place in the list. It must be to avoid the problem of so many people dying while waiting.

I have been waiting for 3 years already, used every trick I know, to no avail. For a 15 meter boat it is going to be much harder.

As for the rules and regulations, the swiss, are a real pain to deal with. I mean, with such dangers looking in the treacherous waters of Lac Leman, for God's sake.... It  may have to be with their being a landlocked country, I guess, so they must be really tough on those daring to take on the dangerous waters of their lakes.

Good luck.

JR M,

Sounds like you know what you're talking about, would you be around sometime for a coffee and a chat. I'd really like to hear about local rules and regs.

Thanks.
