Best Gyms + French Instructors?

Hi everyone :- )

I'm moving to Geneva next week and I've been googling to find suitable gyms as well as french classes, I've only found very expensive options though so if anyone has something to recommend I really appreciate it.

I'm looking for HIIT classes that I can book into (like Classpass for example) or gyms with regular HIIT classes included in the membership. I found Beat Fitness which is exactly the sort of thing I like but they haven't opened in Geneva yet, just Lausanne. I also need english-speaking instructors, a tricky combination.. any suggestions?

Secondly, I speak 0 French and I'd like to start learning, so at least I can start to try and understand / integrate better into my surroundings. If anyone knows tutors in the Ferney-Voltaire / Nations area I would be grateful!

Thank you!

Welcome to glocals and to Geneva!

For French lessons, I suggest that you chick on  the Classifieds tab to find plenty of offers.  You will also find others on the UN in-house staff notice-boards.

All the best, R,

Hello and welcome,

I just wrote a long message but somehow it disappeared so I will keep it short.

Activ Fitness is the best gym in town:

1/ it's either 69 CHF per month (59 CHF per month if you are a student under 29 years old) or 62 CHF per month if you pay all at once (740 CHF for the year in one payment).

2/ they have great classes such as Body Pump, Body Attack, Body Balance from Les Mills, butt and abs classes, Zumba, spinning, RPM, GRX and so on. Rémy and Julien the coaches at the location in the city center (42 rue du Rhône) are the best coaches ever especially for Body Pump classes. Their classes are always packed so come early.

3/ There are more than 10 Activ Fitness in Geneva, 3 in Lausanne, 2 in Nyon and you can access all the Activ Fitness gyms in Switzerland with your membership.

4/ The facilities are usually brand new and you have a spa and hammam available and included in your membership.

You can come and try for free for one class or one gym session!

PS: I promise this is not a paid post. I am just a regular member but I really enjoy my gym!

Cheers,

Also, you do not really need to speak French to follow a Body Pump class as the coach shows you every exercise and you can just follow what everyone else is doing.

Their website: https://activfitness.ch/Home_fr.page

For French lessons, the cheapest option is Ecole Migros: https://www.ecole-club.ch/English/Languages

Hi Tams!

For French-language training, I recommend you have a look at Qoclico! Very professionnal, flexible and efficient, online or onsite, intensive or extensive! You can create your own package.
