Bike from Geneva to Vevey/ Montreux

Hello,

My friend and I are interested in biking from Geneva to Vevey and Montreux next weekend to check out the Chateau Chillon and the jazz festival. We plan to take it easy, either bike there and take the train back or bike back the next day. From Google Map, it looks like the ride is about 100km/ 60 miles. Would really appreciate any tips for must-stop locations. We passed Montreux on the train from Zermatt today, and the scenery looks stunning: lake on one side, vineyard another.

Thanks much!

- Mae

Just a few things I can think of:

- Montreux is great, so definitely go.

- Note that the Jazz festival has its last day on Saturday 16-7. Most of it is in the evening though, so if you ride there Saturday and return on Sunday you'll be fine.

- Finding a hotel there may be hard (due to the Jazz festival). Taking the train back in the evening may be the smartest thing; not sure how this works with the Swiss railroads.

- On the way there, Nyon is a nice town for a short break. Lausanne and Vevey are also nice but I don't know as much about them as other Glocals members.

- Check out the Jazz Festival program for the day here: http://www.montreuxjazz.com/2011/en/program11/paying

You probably can't get tickets for Deep Purple any more, and I'm not sure if you want to pay 90 CHF for the other if you're not a fan. But there are lots of free performances and other stuff going on.
