Bike shops

Any suggestions where to buy a bicycle?

I don't want a sort of mid-range touring road bike so happy to spend a little money.

I'm quite tall so I want somebody to advise me and as I don't speak any French yet an english speaking salesperson would be great.

Any advice would be highly appreciated.

I know of a bike shop in Paquis, Plainpalais and Grand Saconnex. My neighbour has the one in Grand Saconnex, he is extremely friendly and nice and I am pretty sure he speaks english as well (as I speak french I actually dont know) - if any location suits you I can get you the precise location :-)

So, I am looking at buying a bike at the moment and having done some research they are somewhat predictably cheaper in France than in GE(particularly given the fx rate). Culturevelo also have a branch in Thonon and there is Veloland in Annemasse (google for their websites).

They stock Trek, Cannondale and Specialized which go up to BIG sizes and are pretty good value for money. If you're looking for full carbon etc they also have the usual brands for that too.

I have noticed a large collection of bicycles on display at the Carrefour in Ferney Voltaire .. They seem to be in the range of around 150 Euros ..

You could have a look here at BOS bikes:

http://www.bsbikes.com/index.html

They are located at Rue de Lyon. They certainly cater for top of the line stuff.

I bought my Specialized at Veloland in Annecy. Big store with a lot of brands.

http://www.veloland2savoie.fr/veloland-annecy/

And when bringing the bike in Switzerland you get the VAT difference back. The shop will prepare all the neccesary paperwork and you only have to hand over the forms to customs.

Good luck.

Hey,

Kona Bikes have their HQ near Geneva, and theyre opening a Factory shop in Segny, near the Mc Donalds and Carrefour.

English spoken, and great deals on bikes.
