Blate Bouldering Carouge

Hello Everyone.

Does anyone know what the current situation is with the Blate bouldering cave in Carouge?

I would like to train, I notice that there are few posts about the keys being in the nearby postbox but I was unable to find them. If anyone knows then please let me know, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Hannah

The link is for Structure, which is in Vernier, not Blate in Carouge.

Hannah, first of all, GOOD NEWS!!

After spreading fake news here and in order to work on my redemption, I went to the cave to see first hand was going on.

It was open and a couple of guys were training. One was kind enough to show me how it works.

First, the cave is 20-30 meters if you keep on going after the Emaus entrance. Keep on going 10-20 meters and you can turn on your left under the building. There, on your right, you'll find the "maibox" (a "slit" on the door). Inside the "slit" you can see a little cord you need to pull. The key is attached to the cord. It's also where you pay. The session costs 5 francs. Just throw your coin in the "slit". The whole thing works on TRUST.

Enjoy.

Fantastic, thank you! Are there specific hours it’s open? Or you just come and go as you please?

There aren't any timing restrictions as far as I'm aware, just make sure to lock up and put the key back once you're done. :)

I just went now, but there was no key at the end of the cord - just a carabiner. And as far as I could tell, the door was locked, so I couldn’t get in. Anyone have insight on that? Is there something I’m missing?

Hello,

I just moved to Geneva and I am looking for places to climb. Is this place still open? How does it work?

I'm also interested in Blate or possibly other boulders where I can train for cheap. If closer to Servette it's even better!
Thanks!
