Braces for a teenager: options?

Hi there, my teenager son needs to get braces soon. We were quoted 10'000.- CHF for it which seems a lot of money.

Have you had a good experience with a cheaper price here in Geneva or in nearby France?

Any advise?

Thanks for your help!

We've had a great experience with Dr Favero in Ferney-Voltaire. Her cabinet is close to bus F.

BTW, I've been warned that that 10K is a starting point, not final price.

So the price would be similar in nearby France and 10k is usual?

Probably about half or less, but you would need to get an estimate of course.

Hi Dan,

Were you given that quote after a thorough examination of your son's dentition?

The work and materials needed depend on the particularities of his dentition, the severity of the misalignments and the nature of the corrections required. A 10,000 chf estimate would imply your son's condition is quite severe. Unless that is the case, and the orthodontist has given you a full analysis, I would look for another orthodontist.

That said, chose one on the basis of their competence, not their fees. Teeth are under tremendous biomechanical force, as are the joints (TMJs) which are strained when we chew. If the work is not precise, your son will suffer the consequences later in life.

Thanks JR M, of course.

All tests and examinations have been done. We will be able to ask other places with the documents we have, with recomendations.

Thanks again!
