Building a team for a charity

Hi Everybody,

I am representing in Switzerland Enfants du Mékong (www.enfantsdumekong.com), a French NGO. Enfants du Mékong was founded in Laos in 1958. Our mission is to educate, train and support the children and youth in 7 countries in Southeast Asia: Burma, Cambodia, China (Yunnan), Laos, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.

I live in Geneva for already 7 years, working in the banking industry. I am sponsoring 2 children through our NGO. I organized some events and raised funds for our projects. However, if you go faster alone, together we go further. I am now looking for motivated people who want to be part of my team so as we can expand our activity here. I have A LOT of projects in mind for the coming year(s). No reward expected except that of giving joy to children. Who is in? MP or e-mail me at [email protected]

About Enfants du Mékong

Our main means of action is promoting children sponsorship. Enfants du Mékong's Child Sponsorship Programme is an individual sponsorship between the sponsor and a child. The monthly donation is used directly to the sponsored child, according to his/her needs (school fees, uniforms, books and stationeries, supplementary food and medication for the family, hygienic products such as soap and tooth brush, pocket money for him/her).

We also carry out various development projects aiming at improving educational and living environment for children and their families such as managing foster houses and education center, constructing schools and ideal studying environment, reconstructing a community damaged by a natural disaster, organizing creative writing workshop, etc.

We rely on a strong network of trusted local decision makers built for years, as well as on European volunteers who choose to relocate there for 1 to 3 years acting in the field as the “eyes and ears” of the NGO.

We usually go where nobody else goes to help the poorest children and their communities, and carry out programs in remote areas, slums and with ethnic minorities.

We do not tell local people what to do. They tell us was they need, we listen to them, advise them on their projects and help them on the follow-up. And we raise funds for them.

Our core values: respect every human being regardless of origin, culture or religion, build Trust, demonstrate Loyalty.

Our aim is not to empty poor countries and bring children to developed countries, but rather educate and train future leaders who will shape the future of their own countries. The child we help today will save his country tomorrow.

Key figures:

- 11.3 MM EUR budget in 2015.

- 84 % of income redistributed in our social missions (a figure we are very proud of).

60 volunteers sent locally in Southeast Asia for 1 to 3 years.

22 000 sponsored children in 2016, 200 000 sponsored since 1958.

Impact on more than 60,000 children in 2016, 600 000 since 1958.

- 100 projects supported in 2016, 1 800 since 1958.
