Buying running shoes

Hey folks,

I'd really like to join the GVA runners event, but the problem is I haven't got any running shoes. Regarding I'm here only since last week, I'd welcome some advices of any cheap sport equipment/shoe store in the area (even in France, if it's cheaper).

I'm thinking of some entry-level shoes (I used to have a low-end adidas, which was completely functional and comfortable), but if you have any advices regarding the brand or type please share :)

Thanks in advance!

Hi Daniel,

If cost is your priority, go to France. Stores like Go Sport or Decathlon in Annemasse have a good selection and are a little cheaper.

If you need specialist advice in Geneva, the store Running Planet in Eaux Vives might be able to advise on more technical matters. For the long term health of your joints, it is important to wear the right shoes. Factors like your running style, size and shape of your feet should determine which brand or style is best for you Rather than buying the cheapest and most stylish shoes, make sure the sales staff take the time to assess your needs properly.

Or go to Aubonne. They have several sports stores there that offer reasonably priced running shoes (wider selection than in decathlon imo).

Thank you for the advices, it was really helpful.

I think I'll go with this one, it's almost (if not exactly) the same which I had before: http://www.decathlon.fr/chaussures-running-homme-duramo-noir-argent-id_8216333.html#v1509723

And I'll go to Annemasse for it, hopefully I can squeeze in some sightseeing too :)

I get my running shoes from Dosenbach here in Geneva (I use the planete Charmilles one) they normally have a pair of Adidas running shoes for 50 francs, first pair lasted me a year, with constant use.
