CASBIA members? is it worth it

Anyone a member of CASBIA...

http://casbia.ch/public/frmHome.aspx?lng=1&zne=public&mnu=Home&pgr=HOME&pge=Home&pgl=1

- was it worth it?

- how does the gas savings work, do you have to show your card each time at the pump and then they reduce the total by 6.5Cents per litre? or do you have to show it in advance

- did anyone actually save anything on their car/house insurance?

- I cant find any garages or listing of businesses on the CASBIA website that would honour the discount, anyone have first hand experience

Hello,

I did get a 10% discount, I think it was, on my motor insurance with Zurich Assurance.

As far as I know also, but I never used that option, if for instance you leave the country they keep your car and sell it for you, which is a nice option for people who move places very frequently.

I don't know about the petrol discounts, sorry.

I hope that helps,

Ana

I get 20% discount with zurich every year (car, house, relax) plus i do get discount in changing my tyres and garage service. So i guess the 27CHf membership is worth it.

thanks for the replies, re Zurich ins.

- Where are the other discounts? the CASBIA website is useless, it lists all sorts of discounts but nowhere to redeem them. Anyone have a list of retailers that honour the card

Cheers

Hi,

I used to work for Zurich insurance which was Glocals previous insurance partner and I did a lot of new Casbia memberships for expats working in international organisations.

It was at the beginning really interesting for the insurance discounts and also the additional benefits you could get with some companies (tyre change, service, etc...)

I heard from different clients that the additional benefits are not as interesting as it used to be, most of them found the same or better deals without the casbia card or at different places. And for the 3.5cts/l gas discount you must register for a credit card to have those.

I used to recommend it to customers just for the insurances, especially for car insurance if you have a foreign nationality (outside EU) it makes a real difference because you are being considered as if you were Swiss and pay the Swiss price.

The problem with this, is that Zurich mentions Swiss as your nationality on the contract to give people the Swiss price. The thing is that legally, it may be considered as a false declaration to get a better pricing, so they should be applying the Casbia discounts with the clients official nationality mentionned on the contract instead of Swiss.

Since I have left Zurich to come to Allianz, we have negociated for Glocals at least the same conditions or better for insurances without having to pay the yearly 27.- membership, with their official nationality mentionned on the contract.

So, having Casbia is it still worth it or not? I would just suggest to study the question depending of your needs, to see if it makes a real difference or not.

cheers

Thanks for the info Aymeric,

I also emailed CASBIA and inquired as to what companies were part of their program and what benefits they would offer. Below is their response. You have to wonder how bad the list is if they can't post it. Why would anyone become a member if they cant tell you up front what the benefits are?

From CASBIA

"The public part of the website indicates the nature of benefits and the part for members indicates the companies which grant such benefits."

Ha ha ha,

I love how they work.

I should do the same,

sign the insurance, pay it, then I will tell you what it covers!

I would make millions !  Money mouth

So yes, their list and avantages may not be what it used to be...

Anyhow, for insurances you get the same benefits or better with Glocals, and you don't have to pay 27.- per year to become a member.

Maybe I should propose Nir to start asking yearly membership fees for all the good things you get from Glocals Laughing

Hi guys,

My name is Nir and I'm the co-founder of glocals.

I sincerely recommend speaking with Aymeric, the glocals contact at Allianz, before getting any insurance. Our deal with Aymeric means:

1. You'll get the best rate, plus 10-20% off cos you're a glocals members.

2. Great personal service from Aymeric (I know, cos I also get my insurances with him). Aymeric is a great guy who gives great service: honest, clear, fast, no bullshit.

Here's the glocals insurance guide, and here's Aymeric's contact details:

Roland,

There's no problem at all with you posting negative reviews about Aymeric or anyone else.

But there's a problem if your feedback is simply that someone is an "arrogant git". That's not a review, that's an opinion you throw out there without any helpful facts.

I removed your original post. Feel free to post a more detailed review anytime, and again: make it as negative or positive you want, as long as it's backed by facts.

Sorry, but have to report it wasn't very useful. Had to pay for a couple of years but never used. Wasn't very helpful with email either, not much info on the web. So joined, and much effort was made to separate from. But should say initially joined because a colleague said it was a good deal, bought a car from them or something. So must be useful for some.
