I joined California Fitness a few months ago.  I usually go to the Eaux Vives location, around lunch time.  It's very clean, and not crowded--when I go at least.  I've never gone to any of the classes, but the workout equipment is quite modern and kept in good condition.  To be honest, I haven't gone to any of the other gyms in the city, so I can't provide a comparison. 

After reading numerous horror stories on glocals I was nervous about signing a contract with any gym here because of the automatic renewal clause.  The California Fitness contract also has this clause, but when I expressed concern the employee scratched the clause out entirely.  The automatic renewal clause also requires that you check a box acknowldging that you've read and approved the clause (all in French, of course), but scratching it out was a nice touch.  

I've had a good experience with California Fitness and would definitely recommend it.

Compared to Silhouette in Eaux Vives, California Fitness is definitely better in my opinion.

The equipment is up to date and well maintained, the environment is beautiful and the hygiene level is high.

You get a clean towel at the desk free of charge and the women's locker room, showers and sauna is really clean.

The group classes are well organised and you have many different classes to choose from.

The trainers speak English very well and they are very friendly and accommodating.

Because I made friends with the trainers and the girls at the desk they even bent the rules for me a bit when I wanted changes made to my contract.

All in all you get what you pay for so I would definitely recommend California.

I used to go to Plaza Sport, which I enjoyed, but I changed flat and now live closer to California - is anyone able to compare both ? Would be great.

I used to be in California and now being back in geneva joined again! I think price quality it is the best gym. The best class is the "boot camp " :-) Also the equipment is good and the staff very helpful. Oh and another important point is that it is not too crowded. So personally I do recomend ... maybe see you at the Boot Camp soon hehe

PS: If you come recomended by someone right now that person gets 2 extra months, or you do 1 month extra each...

I also use the Eaux-Vives branch and can recommend it. I find it quite laid-back and usually not too crowded.

This is the fitness of my cousin and sure that is a good fitness :-)

I agree with Johan that the Eaux-Vivdes branch is the best one.

My cousin is very stricly with hygiene and I tink that is a very important point.

You can say that you are coming on behalf of his cousin Gregory, maybe he could make a gesture...
