7th Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction

Volunteer Programme

The Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction is a biennial multi-stakeholder forum established by the UN General Assembly to review progress, share knowledge and discuss the latest developments and trends in reducing disaster risk. It represents a critical component of the monitoring and implementation process of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (2015-2030). The outcomes of the Global Platform inform the deliberations of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development and the UN 2019 Climate Summit from a disaster risk reduction perspective.

The 7th Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction organized by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) will be held between 13 and 17 May 2019 at Le Centre International de Conférences de Genève (CICG), near the Palais des Nations.

ICVolunteers will be involved for the third time in this important global event. We are looking for more than one hundred volunteers to get involved in many aspects of this important gathering, including reporting, photography, room supervision, welcoming services and translations. Regarding your post, do we need to live in Switzerland or to have a specific work permit to volunteer or no?

Hi Camille,

Volunteering is an unpaid activity. So there is no need of a visa if you are an European citizen. Neither it is compulsory to live in Switzerland for this mission.
