I was wondering if anyone was in a similar situation. I have a G2 driver's license (from Ontario)that will expire next year. I won't have a chance to go back to Canada any time soon to do my G license and I don't want to lose my license and have to start the process from scratch when I go back to Canada one day.
I'm wondering if I can exchange my license for a Swiss license? Has anyone done it?
Thanks,
Marz

Thanks a lot Tinkie.
I wonder if I want back to Canada in the future and exchange the Swiss license to a Canadian one, would they give me a G2 again? Any clues?
And since my license is not a full one ( meaning G2 in Canada doesn't allow me to drive on highways) will the Swiss one allow me to drive here?

The funny thing is, I handed over my G2 and received the full Swiss one. What a joke, moreover, I received the G2 back only with a sticker ontop saying invalid. Obviously you take it off after and you still have your full G2.
Changing it is easy, as the girl below said. Go to that point of reference and tell them you want to convert (condition being you are here with a certain permit I guess). I didn't pay anything, took them a week or so, during which you still drive even without your lisence.

Thanks.
The only problem with my G2 is that it expires soon, so the trick with taking off the sticker won't work. But I just found some info on exchanging the Swiss permit back for a Canadian one.
I've been here for 4 months and have a B permit.
Thanks a lot.

It should be that when you go back to Canada, you just switch your full Swiss license for a full Canadian one. I think the straight exchange is valid for Ontario since the previous Minister of Transportation is married to a Swiss woman and he also took Swiss Nationality. Not sure of the other provinces.
As discussed, go get the Swiss license ASAP so at least that is handled. I hope that they do the exchange without looking too closely.
