I am now living in Geneva for 1 month. I was told I need a visa if I plan on staying longer than 3 months. How do I go about getting this?
I also want to apply for a B permit. Can you help me figure this out and do I have to wait for a visa first?
HELP?
Thanks,
Linda

I don't know but I would call the Permanent Mission of Canada in Geneva. I've called on them for other issues and they have been incredibly helpful.
The Canadian Permanent Mission
Avenue de l'Ariana 5
1202 Genève, Switzerland
+41 22 919 92 00
Good luck!

Hi,
You are allowed to stay for a max of 6 months within one year (2 times 3 months but after the first 3 months period is over you have to leave then you can re-enter for an other 3 months period). Siince nobody at the Suisse border/passport control stamps a Canadian passport the rule is not enforced. I have been in Switzerland for almost 10 years and nobody put a stamp in my passport whenever I was returning to Switzerland.
You can apply for a B or L permit in the following circumstances:
-you are here to study or work (need to show an employment contract)
-you're married to a Suisse or you're accompaning a husband that already has a permit
For more information about permits and other useful stuff I suggest to buy "Living and working in Switzerland".
