Catamaran Sailing

Hello,

I just bought a catamaran (hobie 16) in Geneva. I have quite some experience in cat sailing on the Baltic Sea and would like to do some sailing here.

I can take 1-2 persons on the boat with me. You do not need prior sailing expierence. However you must not be afraid of wind, water and waves.

I would like to do the sailing on evenings (starting arround 5-6 pm) or during the weekend.

Hobie 16, great little boats, I've sailed them on the lakes around Grenoble. There the major issue are cross winds as it gets warm in the afternoon but Lake Geneva is much more open than that.

Where are you going to store it?

Hello David,

it sits on the lake shore near the fountain. It takes some time to get the paperwork done and I am very excited to get on the lake - hopefully in a couple of days.

Best regards

I used to have a Hobbie 16 on the lake just by the Jet d'Eau - sold it due to trouble finding sailing partners willing & able to go at a momemnt's notice.  Get the lake & wind meteo from the airport. Count me in !

Shame there is no space for a keen novice. Have been looking to crew or get involved this way.

Hello,

the cat is ready for sailing. I tested it several times and it just works fine. The wind is perfect today and may be even tomorrow morning.

Since the wind often is quite weak, the cat sailing is on rather short notice. So please send me a private message with your coordinates (email and if possible phone number) and I will contact you in case we can go sailing. Especially since posting on that forum does not work by iphone. I will send you my contact details as well, so you can also contact me if you think the wind is perfect for a ride.

With weak winds, you do not really have to care about equipment. However with strong winds (more than 3 Bft) you should have a wet (or a dry) suit. It is not because the water is really chilly, but it is useful to protect your body when you are in the trapez and might hit the boat.

I am looking forward to really speedy sailing on the lake.
