Caves Ouvertes 2011

Dear Glocals members,

I am preparing a guide to the Caves Ouvertes 2011 (the annual wine event in the Geneva region). From my visits in 2009 and 2010 I have my own impressions and ideas, but to make it more general I'm looking for some input.

So: What are your tips for visiting the Caves Ouvertes? Which towns and wine growers? Car, public transport or bike? Which wines to try?

Naturally I will post the guide here as soon as it's done.

We lived in Sezenove for many years which had 2 wine growers. The Pinot Noir and Gamay are definetly ones to try from the Favre brothers and have won awards. They are on the L bus route if you don't have a bike or car and means you can also include the the wine tasting in Bernex and Lully.

Thanks for these comments. I agree that bike is the best way, though some wine makers can be quite far (depending on where you live). And Sezenove is one of those places that will be a lot quieter than for example Dardagny and Satigny, but where they make excellent wines as well.

I'm almost done with the guide, will post it here after making a few final changes.
