Cello tuning

Dear all,


I was wondering if any of you are cellist, who could kindly help in tuning my cello, i have tuned it last year but did not touch since and now I am thinking of starting classes , but before this i would like to get acquainted with the instument!


any help will be much appreciated !

You know you need to learn how to tune your cello every time before you play, right? It's not like a piano that you tune once a year. :) Do you mean that the tuning pegs are stuck? Or you don' thave a tuning fork? For that you can use this online tuner: http://www.get-tuned.com/online_cello_tuner.php


If the pegs are stuck you can wiggle them gently then turn them while pulling out to release string tension. You may need to clean the surface to make it turn smoother. You should also have fine adjusters on the tail piece.

Great and many thanks Kutyafal ! yes one of the pegs is stuck . I have just checked the online tuner , very interesting , however i dont think that i will get it right as i am a very very beginner. but many thanks for you advice !

It's really a one minute process but I know how something that is so simple for an experienced musician can seem daunting to a novice. If you have Skype and a webcam I'd be glad to walk you through the process.
