Charity Shops - for clothes
Hi there

Does anyone know the location of a charity shop for clothes please? I have tried searching on the internet but cannot find one... preferably with easy car drop off access, but totally understand if this is just going one step too far!

thanks so much
tash (i live in paquis area but i have a car..)

you can drop off your clothes in what looks like an oversized post-box called "La boite ? fringues" . they're randomly scattered around town. off the top of my head there is one by the last stop of the 9 bus - petit-bel-air. you can easily take your car and drop them off there.

there's a picture of them at the bottom of this website, so you know what to look out for.

Looks like caritas could pick them up: http://www.caritas-geneve.ch/mobilier.php
CSP too, but not sure if they take clothes at home: http://www.csp.ch/page.asp?np=1&id=22
Closer from your home, there is a used clothes shop Rue de Lyon, near the railway station. Maybe something from the red cross, not sure about it.
And Boite ? Fringues is a good idea, but I couldn't find infos about it. I've one next to my home, will look if there's a number or something like that, I've to deposit some empty bottles there.

There is a second-hand store in Rue des Paquis (close to the Place de la Navigation) that also accepts clothes as donations.

In some areas of Geneva, these yellow boxes "Boites à fringues" are no longer recommended, as they are regularly "burgled" and "looted" by some people.

The best and safer you could do is bring your stuff directly to one of these charity shops:

Red-Cross geneva: http://www.croix-rouge-ge.ch/index.php?page=vet-shop

Caritas: http://www.caritasge.ch/p107001157.html

Centre social protestant: http://www.csp.ch/ge/brocantes/boutiques.php

Emmaus: http://emmaus-ge.ch/

For France: there is also Emmaus near Annemasse (don't know for the Pays-de-Gex area)
