as we plan to leave Geneva this summer, I was wondering if it is cheaper to hire a cleaning company for the final house cleaning, or just let the Regie to do the final cleaning (at our expenses). Any advice? Thank you!

The advantage of asking the Régie to arrange the cleaning is that they can’t subsequently say it wasn’t done to their satisfaction.

However, that option does usually cost more.

I have a slightly different question: if you give your flat back after a long term lease, is it normal to expect that some wear and tear is reasonable and can't be reproached by the regie? For example, if you give your flat back after living there more than 10 years, is it normal to expect that a new coat of paint is needed and is part of the owner or regie's responsibility, ie can't be charged to the person leaving the flat?
