Collection of old fridge by the City

Hi,

I have an old fridge to dispose of. Does anyone know if the City of Geneva will come to collect it in order to dispose of it appropriately? If so, where can I find out how to go about arranging this?

Any advice much appreciated!

they will collect it, but you need to phone to the following number before  : 0800224222  (I don't know if they speak English)

It's written in the calendar they distribute every year.

If the fridge is still working, you could also ask one of the charity shops to collect it (caritas, CSP centre social protestant La Renfile, emmaus).

You'll find all the links for these associations on a previous forum topic:

http://www.glocals.com/forums/geneva/where-how-in-geneva/Charity-Shop---22776.htm

They collect electrial appliance, bikes, clothes, books, furniture, etc., everything in good condition.

Thanks Bertrand and Catherine. Alas, it is no longer working and when I rang that number, they told me that they don't collect fridges.

Any other ideas??

True, they don't collect any longer heavy stuff like fridge, TV, oven, etc.

And if you don't have a car, it's a bit of a problem ...

You have to bring it either to any of the three recycling spaces in the canton (Carouge, Bernex, Bellevue):

http://etat.geneve.ch/dt/dechets/a_votre_service-chatillon_bernex_chanats_bellevue_praille_carouge-7963.html

Or bring it to any shop which sells the same type of things, even if you've bought it in another shop, even out of Switzerland. The shop MUST take it, by law.

If you don't have a car,  why not placing an ad on anibis.ch for instance, for "frigo en panne à donner pour personne bricoleuse" ??

Thanks. Yeah, I don't have a car. The fridge is ancient and enormous. I don't think any shop is going to be too happy with me bringing it to them :)
