Commuting from Carouge/Champel to Geneva Airport
Hello

My husband and I are moving to Geneva this summer, and he will be working near the airport. Someone we met in Geneva suggested we look in the Champel area, as it's great for kids (we have a baby who will be one year when we arrive).
We looked at the map and thought it may be possible for my husband to get to work through Carouge and the autoroute de contournement, thereby avoiding the Mont Blanc bridge mess.
Does anyone have any experience with this?

Do you know if traffic is horrendous that way too?

Would also of course appreciate any suggestions on places to live in and around Carouge/Champel or other areas that are good for a young family.

Thanks!

hi !

i live next to the airport and work in carouge. the autoroute de contournement is a very fast path between this two areas, much better than crossing the center, it takes me about 15 minutes at 9am and 6pm. the only thing is that in the evening, i see many people going in the direction of carouge/france (opposite way from me), so there is often some jam between 5pm and 7pm, i don't know how much time it will take at this moment of the day in this direction.

for champel you will need 5-10 minutes more using small roads instead of the route de saint-julien which is very slow on rush hours.
