Computer strategy games

I was thinking of organize a network strategy games like Red Alert / command and conquer ( forgive me if i am too old , not updated with the new games :P )... so the idea is everybody brings his/her laptop to my place or place we agreed on and start playing and having fun.

So who knows Red Alert ?

You can suggest a cool strategy game as well !!!

Cheers,

Abdul, it's an excellent idea. LAN-parties are fun.

Of real-time strategy-games (RTS), I suggest:

* "Worms"-series, in a class of its own.

* "Company of Heroes"-series (it's actually tactical fun, but I digress), RTS.

* "Close Combat-series", which is so old, it can run on any machine after 1998, but is great fun, nonetheless. RTS and one shooter.

* "Empire: Total War"-series, e.g. on Napoleon, RTS

* "StarCraft 2" would no doubt sink my laptop.

-- and also:

* "Operation Flashpoint"-series. The older ones run on any machines, but are very playable. The latest one, 'Dragon Rising', sinks my laptop. OK, this one is a complex first-person shooter ;)

* "Call of Duty"-series, for more first-person shooting.

* "Silent Hunter 5", submarine simulator.. for the very patient hunters.

* RISK :D  On a table - and snacks and wine/beer. I have the Tolkien-RISK, as well as the regular RISK.

I suppose, I could go on.. ;) Check out the demos on www.steam.com

P.S., if one can't join for some reason, there's also the option of using LAN over Internet  via Hamachi to sort-of join the LAN-party.
