Hi everyone! My friend Dave "Smoota" Smith, who is a singer and trombone player based in New York City, recently went on tour in Europe and only made a quick stop in Winterthur when he passed through Switzerland. He is coming back on May 17 in Zürich and would like to have 1 or 2 gigs in Geneva that weekend. Can anyone please suggest a venue he could play at? He likes intimate sets and does not need a lot -- a great PA system will suffice. Is there a lounge bar or club that will welcome him here in Geneva? To give you an idea of the set-up, he was recently at Maison Blanche in Paris, where he first had his concert, then served as their guest DJ for the late-night party.
Dave has played with world-renowned bands like Phish, Sufjan Stevens, and TV On The Radio. He has been on Broadway in "Fela!". He is also regularly seen on stage singing and playing dirty gospel with The Reverend Vince Anderson & His Love Choir. On his Website, he is described as follows: "A singer and trombone player, Smoota writes steamy, sensual, sexy songs about topics rarely heard in music. His groovy, provocative, and arousing style has drawn comparisons to Serge Gainsbourg, Barry White, Bryan Ferry, and Beck. Renowned for his passionate trombone playing and tours with TV on the Radio, Sufjan Stevens, and Spoon, Smoota debuted his solo act in 2010 and quickly developed a reputation for a rare combination of alluring lyrics and warm, erotic sounds."
