Consulting on a 'B' permit

Hi all,

I'm hoping somone might be able to point me in the right direction.  I have been looking for work in the development sector for a few months now and this week was given the opportunity to do a short term consulting contract.

I have a still active consulting company in Australia and was wondering about the legalities of doing the job through this company?  All the contracts and paperwork would be with the Australian company, the income would go there as would the tax and pension payments etc. as with other international contracts I have fulfilled. The only difference is I am completing the work in Switzlerand rather than Australia.  But I can't see the Geneva government being happy with me poaching jobs and money away from Geneva.  Who would be the proper authorities to contact about this, the office of immigration?  Does anyone have any experience with consulting inside Geneva from an international company?

Becoming 'self employed' is not something i see as worthwhile at this stage considering the time and paperwork involved in such a move and this is only a one of occurance as far as I can tell, meaning I do not even meet the 'self employment' criteria anyway.

Any thoughts would be helpful.

Cheers.

No comments on your other points, but since you would be doing the work in Switzerland, it's reasonable to expect to be tax liable to Switzerland  and not Australia (same concept goes for about any country on the globe.. [check out Monaco and Lichtenstein, though]). You might want to seek the aid of an international tax advisor/accountant before starting.

Hello,

In my opinion, the best way - go straight to the lawyer for preparing all docs. Yes, you can hanging around Office Cantonale or Hotel des Finances, but there are will be millions of opinions, because nobody cares if you get permit or not (especially in the way, if you are working not for company based in CH).

I know a good one, she has a reputation. It's expensive, but worth it, if you want to have a permit.

PM me for details.

Good luck!

Dina
