Cycling around the lake

Has anyone cycled around the lake?

Is there a website with a route? How are the roads/ bicycle paths? Where did you stay overnight?

Is there more information on the web?

Who can help me?

I've done it, at least up to Lausanne from geneva... and they have marked routes and so.... I am not too familiar with the French side of the lake, but on the swiss side it's all very well marked, for most of the route you actually have your own bicycle path.

my recommendation is to do it on sunday, a lot less cars and people around.

I agree with Andy about the Swiss side. I sometimes take the route to Nyon (and Laussane) from Geneve and it is quite comfortable. Once I tried the French side to Thonon-les-bains and there was no route for bicycle and the road was not smooth.

Cheers.

It is true there is no cycle track on the French side but you can stick close to the lake on small roads. The worst section is from Evian where the only way to avoid the main traffic is to take the road up to Publier a bit of a pull but a nice descent.

Hello and g'day all

I like that idea...around the lake, oba!!! I think you should organize yourself from the beginning...the lake is 180km all around and of course you can make it longer if planning to isit some other spots on the way...

I cycled last weekend Geneva-Montreux by the french side and that's true it is not tidy as swiss side but, no drama, still a nice ride.

You will find your way as there is no "other way" as you can see the lake all the way....then again, up to you how many days you have to do it. Places to stay are easy to find but we're on summer holidays and some places are crowded with tourists...

Have a good ride, safe journey and feel free to write me back or gie me buzz for tips...enjoy,
