Day Trips and Hiking

I am looking for some day trips from Geneva to do while my parents are visiting.  They have been to all the big ones...Annecy, Gruyere, Lausanne.   We like to hike and explore small towns.   Any suggestions on some of the small villages in the Jura?  Any other recommendations would be great!  We have a car so that is not a problem.

Hello Kat,

I will recommend canton Valais, for example Lac Noir district :-) it's fantastic, because less tourists first of all... very swiss place. If you go by car from Geneva, try Sion castles first, approximately 1,5 h from town.

Good luck!

Dina :-)

Not in Switzerland, but definintely worth a visit: The medieval village of Pérouges. It's a one and a half hour drive.

We just went to Romainmotier in the Jura - very nice town with a cathedral and there's a easy walk you can do to La Sarraz which passes a couple waterfalls and many patches of wild garlic :)

There's also the train from Nyon up to La Cure which offers some spectacular sights on a clear day.

You can also cross the water from Nyon to Yverdon or Lausanne to Evian.
