Disposal of old (broken) TV

Hi all,

does anyone know how to get rid of an old TV? I've heard that the Ville de Geneve roadside disposal service will not take electrical items, and you have to take them yourself to an electrical store. Would this be true?

Thanks very much for any information

As far as I know, appliances and computer equipment sold in Switzerland already includes the cost for recycling in its purchase price (SWICO Tax).

Visit SWICO's web site to find the best way to dispose of it.

I'm pretty sure you can just drop them off at the waste disposal places in La Praille or Bellevue. I haven't done it myself but I've seen others leave TVs there. Should be the same for computer servers, but that may depend on their number and size.

The one in Bellevue is at Chemin des Chanats (small street near Route de Valavran between Bellevue and Grand Saconnex).

Opening hours: only in the afternoon, from 14:30, I think also on Saturday.

Hi there, thanks everyone for your help! Just to follow up on this, we actually took it to the Media Markt near Carouge. You can leave old electrical gear with them, or indeed any electrical retailer, as I think it says on the SWICO website. Not sure if you can do it outside of their opening hours; as long as you can get in the car park at this branch it would be possible, since you just leave the items on a crate round the back of the shop.

Thanks again!
