Doctor's certificate?

Hey all,

I'm running a half marathon in France in November and have to get some kind of certificate from a doctor to say I'm healthy enough. Sounds idiotic, but I can't complete the sign-up unless I have it. I'm sure my Swiss doctor will resent me for wasting his time (and bill me for it)... Are there any medical doctors out there who wouldn't mind signing a form for me in return for a pint? I'm 31, will be running a half marathon two weeks before, don't smoke, am not drinking during October, am mildly overweight on the BMI thing but working on it.

Thanks!

I had to do this last year and the cheapest option, 35 euros, was to go to a doctor in France. I brought that form, she listened to my heart, took my height, weight and blood pressure and then signed it.

In France, believe it or not, you need a certificate for each exercise you do, swimming, biking etc. For runners, it has to say 'la course à pied en compétition'.

I presume that you have an annual check up at work, this would be enough but I think you need to be checked before a marathom, it could save your life and it is covered by your medical insurance as well

Thank you for your answers! Some of you clearly know what you're talking about.

My call with my local, Swiss doctor's surgery was: "certificat medical? pour une course à pied? Non, non on fait pas ce genre de chose, on n'a pas l'habitude... je vais vérifier avec le Docteur, il va vous rappeler"

My call with a French surgery in Ferney: "Oui monsieur, quel est votre nom, age, ah vous allez courir un autre semi-marathon deux semaines avant? Je vais vous preparer le document... vous pouvez passer à quelle heure?"
35€ and lunch in France.
