Does anyone know of a ROMANTIC restaurant?
I've been in Geneva for nearly a year now and I'm on a quest to find a nice little romantic restaurant. Affordable, please, I'm only on an NGO salary! Does anyone have any ideas? The ambience is very important, and obviously the food too. Thanks.

I don't know anything in GVA, but the most romantic thing is cooking by yourself (in my opinion!) and after cooking a candlelight dinner for two ;)

sorry, I can't help you (but I would if I knew something)

My boyfriend and I both love cooking together and do it a lot but I thought it would be nice to give us a break from the work and washing up!

A restaurant called "Evidence" behind the train station (Grottes). It is very romantic, affordable (specially if your boyfriend is paying...), top deserts, good experience!

Soupcon in the Old Town. This is not in the romantic leagues of old candlelit chateaux as per some other reco's - but I assume you pay heavily for that. Soupcon is central, reasonably priced and has a more intimate atmosphere than most cafes/ restaus in Geneva which I often find too bright, smokey and akin to the UK 'greasy spoon cafe'. Soupcon is tastefully furnished and is very popular with locals more than tourists / expats, which I think is a good recommendation for the quality of the food.
Also try www.restorang.ch which ranks restaurants and gives comments etc

L'Esquise in Eaux-Vive is in town, romantic, and perfect. Perhaps my favorite.
Cafe de Bain in Plainpalais is also decent.
Cafe des Negociants in Carouge is also a top choice, not too pricey, and they take you down to the wine cellar to select your own bottle of wine, which is quite fun.

Check out resto-rang.ch for details.
