My husband and I are in the midst of moving to Geneva so, of course, we're purging like mad. We have a bunch of old eye glasses and it seems a shame to just chuck them. Anyone know of a good local eyeglass donation programe about?

Most eyeglass shops will take your old frames to donate to programs that can use them. I have dropped my old frames off at the Visionlab in Eaux Vives 2000 and at the eyeglass shop that is around the corner from the McDonalds by Cornavin.
