Employment laws in Geneva... Advice on redundancy

Hi,

my friend has just been made redundant after 5 months living here, so is not entitled to chomage.  However I want to find out who to legally speak to for advice with remaining here - i.e. what needs to be paid still and how do you officially declare yourself as redundant.

also looking for advice regarding the companies handling of this situation as i'm not 100% if the way they have done it is all legal so i'm looking for employee rights laws within Geneva.

Any advice appreciated !!!!

Hi!

My suggestion: look it up on the internet. The city of Geneva has loads of useful information on chomage and other things and all of it is online and pretty easy to find. If not, I would suggest you go to the caisse de chômage and speak to someone, to find out directly what your friend is entitled to or not. I was made redundant in december and didn't have much of clue what I was entitled to. However, they were pretty helpful and explained a lot of it to me. The most important thing is to declare it as soon as possible, so that if you are entitled to something you don't miss out.

Good luck!
